Being Stretched

The Lord is teaching me right now. Wrapped into that statement is joy and pain.

My 4 year old son challenges me. I, like every parent, have a picture of how my son’s life is going to play out and the sad thing is…it’s not very different from mine (minus the 22 years apart from Jesus, teens and twenties full of drugs and alcohol). The thing is…God didn’t create another Nate Davis…he created my son. So instead of trying to force him into the little boy I want him to be, I need to identify who God created him to be and lead/support my son in that direction.

This is hard for me but I need to remember that I serve a God who has and will equip me to raise my son to be a mighty man of God. That’s all that matters right? Not how good at a sport he is or how much he participates with other kids.

Nathaniel. If you ever read this I want you to know that all I care about is that you love Jesus and you serve Him with every ounce of who you are. I want you to know that WHAT you do doesn’t make me proud of you. I’ve been proud to call you my son since the moment I knew you were a boy in your mommies tummy. It will always be that way.

thx for letting me have a moment,

nate
